Creating Community: Roundtable Past and Present

For the past 28 years, the CPAlliance® team has thoughtfully cultivated the CPAlliance® Executive Roundtable experience, creating a place for members to come together in fellowship and community. It has served as more than an opportunity to learn by engaging with the CPAlliance® team and industry leaders, but it has become a place where like-minded CPAs can lean on each other for advice, support, and celebration.

How did the Annual CPAlliance® Executive Roundtable begin?

The CPAlliance® Executive Roundtable started with the idea of creating a community for CPAlliance® members to come together to celebrate their growth and accomplishments, while also providing a space to share struggles and find support and guidance. With CPAlliance® members all over the state of Florida and throughout the United States, it's a chance to bring members together who all have unique backgrounds, perspectives, and approaches to conducting their financial planning practices. Over the years, this event has grown into the premiere event for members and something that they look forward to each year!

What makes the Roundtable so unique?

In the words of CPAlliance® Director Shawn McCabe, the Roundtable is one of the most sought-after think tanks. On the first day of Roundtable, members come together for a big group discussion regarding the challenges and successes they're experiencing in their financial planning practice. During this discussion, members can lean on one another for helpful solutions, group brainstorming, and more. Each topic, issue, or point that is discussed during the roundtable always leads back to one common theme: how can CPAlliance® members better serve their clients, help them grow, and accomplish their financial goals?

In addition to an in-depth group roundtable discussion, the CPAlliance® team hosts several educational sessions. Each year, the Roundtable is tailored to a new topic surrounding practice management, such as financial planning or techstack training. The educational sessions, whether from the CPAlliance® team or guest speakers, are designed to help members better serve their clients and manage their practice. This year, CPAlliance® is excited to welcome several guest speakers, including Brad Pineault,  Capital Markets Strategist Vice President at Fidelity Investments, Shelly Weir, President & CEO of the Florida Institute of CPAs, and Leila Shaver, Founder of My RIA Lawyer.

What else does Roundtable offer?

In addition to offering engaging discussions and educational opportunities, the Roundtable offers a unique experience for not only its members but their families, too! Each Roundtable location is selected with both adults and kids in mind, giving the whole family a fun and enjoyable experience. In addition, each Roundtable is uniquely themed after each location. For example, the Roundtable hosted at Amelia Island included elements of gopher tortoises, the Sandpearl location included old Tampa charm and an outing to a Tampa Bay Rays game, and this year's Key West location will include pirates, key lime pie, Jimmy Buffet tunes, and more (we can't spoil all the surprises!).
